Molecular Modelling & Cheminformatics Expert


You will use state-of-the-art data science methods and work in close collaboration with chemists to design and optimize new innovative active ingredients matching the complex regulatory and customer needs (for sustainable and innovative agricultural products). You will be part of a diverse team of data scientist striving for the digital transformation of Small Molecules.


YOUR TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES


  • Using and developing advanced mathematical models (e.g. machine learning), chemoinformatics, and molecular modelling to deliver new starting points or optimize molecules to enhance the pipeline of Crop Protection across all indications
  • Formulating clear testable hypothesis for molecular design and experimental planning
  • Consult and assemble large, complex data set for analysis
  • Lead strategic and scientific initiatives within the Data Science Community
  • Function as subject matter expert and Data Science ambassador while fostering internal and external partnerships for collaborative initiatives
  • Driving collaboration with Chemists in order to advance the way of finding and optimizing new molecules – establishing trustful relationship with colleagues
  • Strengthen internal and external scientific presence through conference contributions, workshops, trainings, and publications
  • Identify scientific and technical gaps and applies data science to deliver on the pipeline and solve business goals

WHO YOU ARE


  • PhD in Computational Chemistry, Molecular Modelling, Cheminformatics or a related field and proficiency in cheminformatics approaches
  • Proven track record of successful application of molecular modelling approaches (e.g. ligand and/or protein-structure based design, virtual screening, docking, pharmacophore modelling, molecular dynamics)
  • Experience with the application of machine learning approaches, programming, data mining, (implementing new computational methods and workflow automation)
  • Strong knowledge about latest data science methods required for identification and optimization of molecules and knowledge of medicinal chemistry design concepts
  • Highly developed ability to communicate data science topics, methods and strategy to scientists and managers in a truly supporting manor
  • Ability to drive x-functional science in interdisciplinary teams
  • High social competence and effective communication skills to closely collaborate across functions
  • Excellent English skills, both written and spoken
