DUTIES:
The Psychiatrist, Associate Chief of Mental Health and Behavioral Science Services position includes both supervisory administrative duties for the Mental Health and Behavioral Science Service (MH&BSS) as well as outpatient and clinical care. The incumbent will work as a staff psychiatrist, participating in the call schedule and practicing as a member of a multi-disciplinary team, and work collaboratively in a positive fashion with nurses, social workers, clerks, mid-level providers, and other physicians. Additionally, the incumbent will hold a clinical appointment in the Department of Psychiatry, Dartmouth Medical School, and will be expected to participate in academic activities including teaching and research.

Duties include:
Serving as the backup for the MH&BSS Service Chief in the Service Chief's absence. Performing outpatient psychiatry evaluations and treatments. Participating in the call schedule, and available on site on call days to cover crises and unanticipated absences. Supervising psychiatry attending and nurse practitioners, completing performance evaluations in a timely fashion, and completing performance Ongoing Professional Practice evaluations and Focused Professional Practice Evaluations as needed. Updating the call schedule as others are assigned. Serving as a consultant to other medical center staff and trainees. Assisting in training of medical students, medical and psychiatric residents, nursing students, fellows and other graduate or post graduate trainees, as appropriate. Supervising patient care activities of medical students and residents. Participating in recruitment for research efforts within the department. Participating in Dartmouth Department of Psychiatry committees, meetings and other duties.

Other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED:
BASIC REQUIREMENTS:
Education: Degree of doctor of medicine or an equivalent degree resulting from a course of education in medicine or osteopathic medicine. The degree must have been obtained from one of the schools approved by the Secretary of Veterans Affairs for the year in which the course of study was completed. Approved schools are:

(1) Schools of medicine holding regular institutional membership in the Association of American Medical Colleges for the year in which the degree was granted.

(2) Schools of osteopathic medicine approved by the American Osteopathic Association for the year in which the degree was granted.

(3) Schools (including foreign schools) accepted by the licensing body of a State, Territory, or Commonwealth (i.e., Puerto Rico), or in the District of Columbia as qualifying for full or unrestricted licensure.

Certification: Board certified or board eligible in physichatry.

Licensure. Hold a full, current, and unrestricted license to practice medicine in a State, Territory, Commonwealth of the United States (e.g., Puerto Rico), or the District of Columbia.

English Language Proficiency. Physicians must be proficient in spoken and written English.
