What you will be doing in this role?

The Sterile Processing Instrument Tech "Liaison" requires in-depth knowledge of sterile processing tasks and best practice standards, within the surgical services arena in an acute care hospital. The Liaison will have case load specific knowledge of equipment, instruments and supplies used on all cases for the assigned Operating Room unit.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Work closely with the Operating Room "OR" staff to review Surgical Schedule for the assigned OR unit in advance to build case carts.
  • Maintain schedules and carts for Emergency or add-on cases as necessary
  • Conduct routine rounds on assigned OR floors and acts as the primary liasison for OR services staff to ensure instruments needs/requests are filled
  • Facilitates communication between OR and SPD regarding status of trays, needs lists, instruments in need of repair, and new instrument requests.
  • Assists with distribution, processing and decontamination of supplies and equipment as required; responsible for maintenance of selected items; shares responsibility for Immediate-Use-Steam Sterilization process per standard guidelines on respective surgical floors as assigned.

Job Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma/GED required.
  • At least one (1) years in sterile processing or surgical technologist experience
  • Excellent customer service and communication skills.
  • Valid Certified Registered Central Service Technician (CRCST)
