Psychiatrist - (Psych) Locum Tenens
StartDate: 07/22/2013Available Shifts: 8 Hour/Day
A Psychiatrist is needed to provide outpatient ser! vices to this veteran population. The work is needed to begin as soon as credentialing and privileging can be completed and would continue through October, or until a permanent hire could be identified. Working hours are from Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. - 4:30 p.m.
A psychiatrist (locum tenens) is a mental health professional, who focuses on preventing, diagnosing, and treating mental illness. After completing medical school, a psychiatrist must also complete a one year internship and three additional years of specialized training as a psychiatric resident. In the treatment of mental illness, a psychiatrist is licensed to prescribe medication. Some conditions requiring medication include; depression, anxiety, bipolar disorder, and ADHD. A psychiatrist evaluates patients with mental illness and, in cases where medication is subscribed, often practices medication management.
Required Qualifications
The Psychiatrist must obtain a Basic Life Support c! ertificate prior to the start date.
Preferred Qualifi! cations
Experience working with the veteran population is considered a plus.
